When Lies and Wrongdoing are Justified As Good, Be A Light In The Darkness
What is evil can be justified as good.
Many broken people who are lost and seeking identity during difficult times are choosing to be radicalized by destructive groups who are driven by insidious (or a best, misguided) leaders.
Their purpose of getting involved may have been noble, but it's now twisted towards what is wrong. And this twist will make it more challenging to solve society's actual problems.
“Whoever fights with monsters should see to it that he does not become a monster in the process. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you.” - Friedrich Nietzsche
Our leaders with authority and those of us with influence must not allow and enable the destruction of what is good to continue. Like cancer spreading, the more we allow evil the more difficult it will be to successfully address it as it escalates and spreads.
We must all speak and act out against evil, especially those within our groups (instead of only pointing out the wrongdoing on the other side - politically, ideologically, religiously, etc...).
There is a better way to generate the change desired.
Our country needs a clear focused vision and contributing people of courage to build others up, not to tear each other down. We need a strategy and a communication plan that enables us all to be a part of this solution towards a better America, one where we ALL thrive together.
We are not enemies of each other, but brothers and sisters of the same American and human family.
We each need to lean into the lives of others so we can direct and provide meaning to those seeking significance and struggling during this season. A leadership vacuum doesn’t mean people are not led, it means they choose toxic leaders that drive them down evil pathways.
None of us are immune to being radicalized towards evil ends so we must be vigilant in what informs and guides us as well as what we communicate to others.
Our words and actions matter. Let them be a light in this darkness.
