What Does Your Current Prayer Mean To You?

My Current Prayer & The Meaning Behind It

Last Friday, I shared a prayer I wrote in 2014. Below, I share the prayer I've been using for the last few years for myself and others, and what it means to me.

Here is my short, but powerful prayer.

"Lord, draw us near to you. Teach me to embrace your love, and break down any resistances we have to your direction in our life. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

Lord, Draw Us Near To You

Our journey in this life is wrought with moments and season where we run or hide from God. We seek out things and others to fill what only God can. My first line is designed to help me remember my proclivity to do this. It's also my plea to God to find me, even when I don't seek Him out.

Teach Me To Embrace Your Love

God's love is a wonderful thing, but as great as it is, we can reject it as a whole or in painful areas. Since God and his love are unending and abundant, I want to experience it fully. I want God to show me how to do this well.

Break Down Any Resistances We Have To Your Direction In Our Life

When it comes to resisting God or what he is doing in our lives, it's something we all do. We have pockets of our lives where we tell God to stay out. As much as we try, we can't stop God, but we can certainly make it hard on ourselves. My hope is we invite God into the areas of our lives we want Him out, and ask him to heal and restore us. I want him to bring down the walls where I fight against him, even when it is to my own detriment.

In The Name Of Jesus Christ, Amen

"You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it so that the Son can bring glory to the Father." Jesus Of Nazareth

With the direction from Jesus himself, I pray in his name to anchor into our relationship and keep me focused on what matters most.
